NBA Star, Giannis Antetokounpo, Donates $1 Million to Mental Health Services

Basketball player and Milwaukee Buck, Giannis Antetokounpo, has garnered attention for his donation to support the city of Milwaukee’s efforts to promote mental health services.

According to the Charles Antetokounmpo Family Foundation, Giannis’ donation will be $1 million.

Speaking about the foundation and its work in memory of his father, Giannis appeared on The Daily Show in February 2023.

“Our family decided to unite and establish this foundation to repay people for their kindness toward us,” he remarked, “…[we would like to] extend our hand and give them a chance to excel in whatever they choose to accomplish. [Out goal is to] Assist them in making the first step toward realizing their aspirations precisely as I did.”

In the past, Giannis has advocated for topics related to mental health and even discussed his own personal experiences with mental illness. He is now trying his best to aid those who are going through similar struggles.

As someone who came from a low-income family living on the streets of Athens, the NBA player wants to return the favor by helping others in the same manner that so many others helped his family.

“Our experience demonstrates that putting money into the lives of others can unleash their potential, regardless of where they begin or the challenges they encounter,” stated a spokesman for the Charles Antetokounmpo Family Foundation.
