Caitlin Clark, a prominent player for the Indiana Fever, chose to return to her home state of Iowa during the WNBA’s break for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
This week, the former Iowa Hawkeyes standout visited Des Moines North High School, where she engaged with fans and provided students with essential school supplies and Nike backpacks.
The event was sponsored by the Caitlin Clark Foundation, which facilitated the distribution of supplies to approximately 350 high school students. Clark was observed enjoying moments of laughter with the students, taking photographs, and distributing backpacks.
The mission of the Caitlin Clark Foundation is defined as “to uplift and improve the lives of youth and their communities through education, nutrition, and sport.” Since its inception in October 2023, the foundation has launched several campaigns and initiatives designed to support the youth in Iowa, including the Stock Up Campaign, Warm Up Campaign, Gear Up Campaign, and the Fuel Up Campaign.
The WNBA since resumed its season in mid-August, with Clark and the Fever set to finish out the rest of the season, in attempt to make the playoffs. Having not made the Olympic team, Clark decided to spend her time away from the court engaging in community service in Des Moines.
