During the Saturday game, Creighton and Purdue will be engaged in fundraising activities to support tornado recovery initiatives

An exhibition basketball game at the collegiate level will raise funds for those impacted by the tornadoes that occurred in Nebraska in April. This Saturday, Creighton will compete at the CHI Health Center Arena in downtown Omaha. Rob Anderson, representing Bluejay Athletics, discussed the link to Purdue, highlighting that Paul Lusk, a former assistant coach at Creighton who is now with Purdue, has connections to the region affected by the April 26 tornadoes.

The proceeds will be allocated to the United Way of the Midlands, which operates a disaster relief fund designed to support individuals in their recovery and to prepare for future storms. Anderson explained, “Sadly, there is always the potential for an unexpected disaster, whether it occurs in two months or two years, whether it be tornadoes or another calamity.” He mentioned that Creighton has a history of partnering with the United Way of the Midlands. “We aim to play our role in the community through various events, and certainly, raising significant funds for the United Way of the Midlands disaster relief fund is a positive endeavor,” he remarked.

The institution has also made donations to the American Cancer Society. Creighton does not have specific projections for donations from Saturday’s game. Tickets are still available at the CHI Health Center Arena box office and DJ Sokol Arena on Creighton’s campus, with lower bowl seats priced at $30 and upper bowl tickets at $15. Both programs are ranked among the top 15 in the Associated Press.
