It has been officially declared that Qatar will serve as the host for the FIBA Basketball World Cup in 2027

The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 will be hosted by the Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF), with all tournament games set to occur in the city of Doha.

The Central Board of FIBA, in their decision-making process, found the bid to be commendable, especially highlighting its compact geographical configuration, the innovative flexibility in venue scheduling aimed at improving fan engagement, and a significant commitment to sustainability.

Recognized as one of the most accessible destinations worldwide, Doha, the capital of Qatar, features direct flights from a significant number of potential participating nations. The newly improved subway and public transport network efficiently connects all venues, delivering a superior service for every visitor.

With all teams situated in the same city, fans can effectively arrange their activities in advance, ensuring a remarkable experience since all venues are conveniently located within a 30-minute distance from each other. In addition, the venues selected for FIBA’s leading men’s event are fully constructed, and the use of prevalent green technologies will facilitate the realization of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 as a carbon-neutral occasion.

The upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 will attract millions of basketball enthusiasts in the Middle East and North African (MENA) regions, as it represents the first time that FIBA’s prestigious event will take place in this part of the world. This milestone is anticipated to further elevate the sport’s popularity in the region.
